Glass Resurfacing Florida — Professional On-Site Scratch & Deposit Removal

Glass resurfacing is the professional process of restoring a glass surface that has been damaged — removing scratches, hard water mineral deposits, chemical etching, and construction contamination from the glass surface without replacing the glass unit. Glass Restoration Inc. provides professional glass resurfacing services throughout the Florida Gulf Coast — on windows, sliding glass doors, mirrors, shower enclosures, storefronts, and commercial glass. We come to you, assess the damage honestly, and resurface your glass back to factory-clear condition for a fraction of the cost of replacement.

What Glass Resurfacing Is — And What It Isn't

Glass resurfacing is not cleaning. Standard glass cleaners remove surface contaminants that sit on top of the glass — dirt, fingerprints, and residue. Glass resurfacing addresses damage that has physically altered the glass surface itself. A scratch is a groove cut into the glass. A hard water deposit is a mineral compound chemically bonded to the glass surface. Chemical etching from acid graffiti or concrete overspray is molecular damage that no cleaning product can touch. Professional glass resurfacing uses calibrated abrasive compounds, professional equipment, and ASTM C1036 optical clarity standards to remove these conditions from the glass surface — restoring factory-clear optical quality on-site without replacement.

What We Resurface

Windows & Sliding Glass Doors

Scratched windows and sliding glass doors are the most common glass resurfacing jobs we perform across Florida. Construction scratches, cleaning crew damage, wiper arc abrasions on impact sliders, razor blade damage, and deep fingernail-catching surface scratches — we resurface them all using professional on-site equipment. Impact-rated glass, low-e coated glass, tempered glass, laminated glass — we have the experience to resurface every glass type correctly without causing distortion or optical damage.

Shower Glass & Enclosures

Shower glass resurfacing is one of our most requested residential services throughout Florida. Hard water mineral deposits from Florida's well water and municipal supply accumulate on shower glass creating a white hazy film that standard shower cleaners cannot remove. Shower glass also gets scratched from cleaning tools, razor blades, and installation damage. Glass Restoration Inc. resurfaces shower glass and enclosures completely on-site — removing both mineral deposits and scratches in a single visit and restoring the clarity that makes a luxury shower look the way it was designed to look.

Mirrors — High Reward, High Risk, Honest Assessment Required

Mirror glass is manufactured with a completely different goal than window or door glass — flatness over strength. Mirrors are decorative wall hangings, not structural elements. They are not bound by building codes and have no strength requirements — which makes them significantly more fragile than impact glass, tempered glass, or any other glass type we work on. The breakage rate on mirrors during restoration attempts is high enough that most glass restoration companies refuse to work on them at all. Glass Restoration Inc. will work on mirrors — and we have a strong success rate — but we will always disclose the possibility of breakage before we begin. A mirror that already has scratches ruining its appearance is a candidate for restoration. A mirror that breaks during the attempt was already compromised. We have broken a few in the attempt to fix an already ruined mirror and we will not pretend otherwise. There is also a distortion risk unique to mirrors — twice the optical sensitivity of window and door glass — which means deep scratches that we remove from impact sliders every day cannot always be removed from a mirror without creating distortion. Nobody wants a fun house mirror to look into every morning. We assess every mirror honestly before we begin and only proceed when the risk profile is acceptable. If the scratch is light to moderate and the mirror is intact — we can almost certainly help. If the scratch is deep and the mirror has cutouts for lights or receptacles — the risk of breakage increases significantly and we will tell you so before a single pass is made.

Commercial Storefronts & Office Glass

Commercial glass resurfacing serves a specific business need — storefront glass that shows scratches, graffiti etching, or hard water damage affects customer perception and property value simultaneously. Glass Restoration Inc. provides commercial glass resurfacing for retail storefronts, office building facades, restaurant glass, hotel lobby glass, and high-rise commercial windows. We schedule commercial resurfacing during evening and weekend hours to minimize disruption to your business. Your customers never see the work in progress — they only see the result.

Glass Resurfacing vs Glass Replacement — The Cost Difference

Glass replacement on a single impact slider can cost $800-$4,000. A large corner slider assembly can exceed $15,000. An entire new construction home's worth of scratched windows can represent $30,000-$80,000 in replacement exposure. Professional glass resurfacing costs a fraction of those numbers — on-site, without removing the glass from the frame, without disturbing the impact seal, and without the 8-16 week lead time that glass replacement requires. Glass Restoration Inc. has saved homeowners, builders, and commercial property managers millions of dollars in unnecessary glass replacement over 20 years of professional glass resurfacing work on the Florida Gulf Coast.

Is Your Glass a Candidate for Resurfacing?

Most scratched and damaged glass is a candidate for professional resurfacing. The conditions that are not restorable — oil canning distortion, welder slag burns, tile saw chip damage, deep metal spark embedding, and certain manufacturer coating failures — are documented in detail in our technical Resources section. Everything else is almost certainly resurfaceable. Send us a photo of your damaged glass and we will tell you honestly within minutes whether professional resurfacing is the right answer — what the process involves, what the result will look like, and what it will cost. No obligation. No sales pitch. Just a straight answer from a specialist who has been doing this for 40 years.
